FR 361 $5 1890 Treasury Note PMG 65 EPQ

In stock
Treasury Notes of 1890 also known as Coin Notes were issued as payment for the purchase of silver bullion by the Treasury Department. Backed by hard specie, Treasury Notes could either be redeemed for silver or gold coin. Apparently, keen investors purchased Treasury Notes with silver bullion and then demanded gold in exchange with these newly issued Treasury Notes. To say the least, it did not take long for the Treasury Department to repeal this poorly thought-out plan. This note, on the other hand is simply gorgeous and one of the best we have handled. If you decide to add this note your collection, you will be glad you did.
